Fuji X-T30 and Fuji 16-80 Great Travel Kit

The Fuji X-T30 and Fuji XF 16-80 are a great combination for just walking about searching for images while traveling. I go for a walk most every morning and I bring this kit with me as it is the most versatile for this kind of shooting. My other favorite kit is the Fuji X-T30 and the 23 f2 which is much lighter. I enjoy these morning walks as it’s a chance to get out and make some interesting images without wandering all over with a tripod and backpack looking for landscape images. In my opinion this combination is a great travel camera and lens combination.

  • Hi Kirk I liked your videos and the exposure values. Please let me know what kind of grip you have installed on the XT 30?

  • Thank You Kirk for the great video! I really like the style. On Saturday I ordered my 16-80 mm and I’m really excited. Thank you for sharing your experience with this set up in the field. I will use the lens with my XT-20. Best wishes from the south of Germany.

  • Hi Kirk, I’m a new subscriber and have enjoyed the last few of your videos including this latest “walk about” one!  I do not have the XT30 nor the 16-80mm f4 lens but have come close to ordering both.  Right now I’m wondering if I should hold back and consider the XH1 or soon to be XH2 this Spring.  I still very much like that lens!  I’m just not sure what to do now??

  • I've been looking into buying a zoom for traveling. I generally carry only one prime when I travel… But there are so many times where I just miss the versatility of a zoom.

The xf18-55mm is just such a cute little lens, great for video. It just feels kinda short at the end. But my biggest worry is no WR.

The 16-80mm I just wonder how heavy it feels and how is the handling. I can't wait till I can put my hands on one to try it. I already own the xf16-55 but it's too damn heavy for anything outside studio haha

And the 18-135…. I just have heard so many bad things about it being a soft lens that I could never wrap my head around around it.

  • Nice walk-around – I am waiting for my XF16-80mmF4 to arrive (been on order for weeks now ;-( ) – I used to love the Nikon 24-120F4 when I shot full frame Nikon, so I'm sure I'll like this one as well (worried about the wide end and my Lee Seven5 filters for vignetting, we'll see). That area of town is a photographer's paradise – I've been there once (a couple of years ago) can't wait to get back down there. Thanks for sharing your experience!

  • Have exactly the same set up. The grip really helps with this bigger lens and gives more balance.

  • I did the firmware upgrade on my 16-80 lens today . Don’t know if any of the upgrades are applicable to my style of shooting as I am strictly a stills shooter but it is upgraded so we will see . Man I love this lens , I am really going to have to force myself to swap it out for one of my beloved Primes once in awhile LOL.
